Authorial Intrusion is when the author steps away from the text and speaks to the reader. Authorial Intrusion establishes invites the reader to become an active part of the work as main subject of the author’s attention.
But I used a slight of hand:
Naal responded, “This event is following scenario number six. I took the liberty of extracting copies of that scenario. I am also sending those to ‘printer E’. My suggestion is that you place Scenario number six into Appendix ‘D’. I further suggest you place the updates into Appendix ‘E’.
“Appendix? In a fictional novel?” asked the professor. “Whoever heard of an appendix in fiction? And what happened to Appendix A, B and C?” Professor Tur shook his head. “I’m not certain but it seems like the rules of fiction are being broken here.”
“Professor,” replied Naal, “You need these pictures to help explain what’s happening. As for Appendix A, B and C: Well, whoever heard of placing appendices in Fiction? Now, stay with me.”
