Circumlocution is where the writer uses long and complex sentences in order to convey a meaning that could have otherwise been conveyed through a shorter, much simpler sentence. Circumlocution involves stating an idea or a view in an indirect manner that leaves the reader guessing and grasping at the actual meaning.
Nakar stopped writing as he observed the distress of the lanky fellow frantically gasping for air just outside his open door. Watching for a little while, he tapped his pencil on the desk. Again, his dark eyes surveyed the wiry creature leaning against the doorjamb trying to catch his breath.
