Amplification refers to a literary practice wherein the writer embellishes the sentence by adding more information in order to increase its worth and understandability. When a plain sentence is too abrupt and fails to convey the full implications desired, amplification is when the writer expands on the idea.
“What is this? There’s dust on this contract! Dust from before
our creation. How long ago did you write this?” The devil mum-
bled, “He played me. He knew all along that He would require
Holy Blood to atone for the sins of humans. He maneuvered me
into this wretched agreement. He gives me the choice between
instant torture and banishment on that miserable little planet. I
should have known this was too easy.” The prisoner spit on the
floor. “I accept,” he snarled.
